چکیده

Our beam-beam simulation code[1] has been improved and used to study lifetime phenomena under beam-beam interaction. One phenomenon observed is high order horizontal resonances (e. g., 8th to 16th), which are found to be exceptionally strong in the horizontal tail and have significant impact on lifetime. A first order perturbation calculation gives good agreement with the simulation on resonance width and tune. Gas scattering is a new feature has been added to the program. The lifetime result is compared with analytical calculation and agrees well. The other effect studied is parasitic crossings in PEP-II. The simulation demonstrates a dramatic tail blow-up when the horizontal separation is reduced to about 7 σ. 1 HIGH ORDER HORIZONTAL RESONANCES IN BEAM-BEAM INTERACTION

Improvements in Monte Carlo simulation of large electron fields

Two Monte Carlo systems, EGSnrc and Geant4, were used to calculate dose distributions in large electron fields used in radiotherapy. Source and geometry parameters were adjusted to match calculated results with measurement. Both codes were capable of accurately reproducing the measured dose distributions of the 6 electron beams available on the accelerator. Depth penetration was matched to 0.1 ...

Selection of beam orientations in intensity-modulated radiation therapy using single-beam indices and integer programming.

While the process of IMRT planning involves optimization of the dose distribution, the procedure for selecting the beam inputs for this process continues to be largely trial-and-error. We have developed an integer programming (IP) optimization method to optimize beam orientation using mean organ-at-risk (MOD) data from single-beam plans. Two test cases were selected in which one organ-at-risk (...

A knowledge-based cone-beam x-ray CT algorithm for dynamic volumetric cardiac imaging.

With the introduction of spiral/helical multislice CT, medical x-ray CT began a transition into cone-beam geometry. The higher speed, thinner slice, and wider coverage with multislice/cone-beam CT indicate a great potential for dynamic volumetric imaging, with cardiac CT studies being the primary example. Existing ECG-gated cardiac CT algorithms have achieved encouraging results, but they do no...
